Dangerous Foods For Dogs



Any time you think your dog may have eaten something dangerous please contact your veterinarian. These are a few examples of dangerous foods. There are also toxic house plants to be aware of. When in doubt always contact your veterinarian.

Here is a list of a few dangerous food and affects they can have on your pet:

  • Alcohol โ€“ May lead to comma, intoxication or death

  • Avocado โ€“ Contains Persin can cause vomiting or diarrhea

  • Raisin Currents โ€“ May lead to kidney failure

  • Cooked Bones โ€“ May lead to stomach lacerations

  • Walnuts and Macadamia Nuts โ€“ Affects the nervous system and can cause muscle damage

  • Onions and Garlic โ€“ May cause anemia and blood cell damage

  • Dairy โ€“ May cause diarrhea

  • Grapes โ€“ May cause kidney failure

  • Mushrooms โ€“ May cause shock and or death

  • Too Much Fatty Foods โ€“ May cause pancreatitis

  • Caffeine โ€“ Is toxic to the heart and nervous system may cause vomiting and diarrhea

  • Xylitol โ€“ Found in candy, gum and some peanut butter. May cause Hypoglycemia, liver failure and or death

  • Chocolate โ€“ Toxic to the nervous system and hearth. May cause death

  • Medications โ€“ (Tylenol or Advil) Can cause kidney failure and GI ulcers
