Dangerous Foods For Dogs

Any time you think your dog may have eaten something dangerous please contact your veterinarian. These are a few examples of dangerous foods. There are also toxic house plants to be aware of. When in doubt always contact your veterinarian.

Here is a list of a few dangerous food and affects they can have on your pet:
Alcohol – May lead to comma, intoxication or death
Avocado – Contains Persin can cause vomiting or diarrhea
Raisin Currents – May lead to kidney failure
Cooked Bones – May lead to stomach lacerations
Walnuts and Macadamia Nuts – Affects the nervous system and can cause muscle damage
Onions and Garlic – May cause anemia and blood cell damage
Dairy – May cause diarrhea
Grapes – May cause kidney failure
Mushrooms – May cause shock and or death
Too Much Fatty Foods – May cause pancreatitis
Caffeine – Is toxic to the heart and nervous system may cause vomiting and diarrhea
Xylitol – Found in candy, gum and some peanut butter. May cause Hypoglycemia, liver failure and or death
Chocolate – Toxic to the nervous system and hearth. May cause death
Medications – (Tylenol or Advil) Can cause kidney failure and GI ulcers
